JAMES SPROUSE | 18 x 18
May 6 - June 9, 2017
Opening Reception: May 5th, 6-9pm
In the Waiting Room, 57W57Arts will feature a solo exhibition by New York-based artist James Sprouse. Completed in the summer of 2015, Sprouse’s 18 x 18 inch paintings on paper are bold declarations of color informed by the deft palettes of Donald Judd and Sol LeWitt. Sprouse, born in Chicago, received his Master’s of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout the US, including the Soap Box Gallery, Van Brunt Projects, Robert Anderson Gallery, the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Kohler Art Center. His work has been featured in Details Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle, among other publications. Sprouse is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts 9/11 Arts Recovery Grant. This is his first exhibition with 57W57Arts.
