WAITING ROOM
KEVIN McNAMEE-TWEED | Slow Rocket
January 12 - February 23, 2018
In the Waiting Room, Slow Rocket features new paintings, drawings, lamps, and books by Kevin McNamee-Tweed. Largely unsubscribed to a single medium, the selection includes pigment on raw canvas, ceramic books and lamps, wooden apparatuses, and monotypes on rice paper. Minced with colloquial and art-historical imagery, the pictures draw upon the artist’s time in Italy, the American West, and The Internet. While the 2D work presents visceral realities inhabitable by personal histories as well as grandiose cliché, the array of 3D pieces offer a corporeal and architectural presence. As the shelves and apparatuses function both structurally and formally, they seek also to perform as extensions of the narratives throughout Slow Rocket.
